Pendleton Wool Denim Jackets

This has become my go-to baby gift.
I hand embroidered the name of Little Miss Isabelle, who will be making her appearance sometime the first week of November (or earlier?) on this tiny jean jacket. On the card are hair bows made of Pendleton Wool. Miss Isabella will fit right in with the Portland hipsters.

The Pendleton wool on the back of this jacket was washed before stitching, so the jacket will be washable. Important for kids clothes!
These gifts have been so warmly received (pun intended) that I made up more.

This child's size 4 is for sale at Boys' Fort in downtown Portland, Oregon.
Here are four more denim jackets in children's sizes that will also be heading to Boys Fort.
If there is any interest in adult sizes, I'll also be adding those to the line up.
So, if you have a baby shower, birthday or hey, even need a Christmas present (sorry to scare you with the thought that it's just around the corner) and don't live in the Portland Oregon area, just drop me a note at Bad Monkey House and I can tell you what sizes I have available.

Bad Monkey House Wall Sconce

This one is more than light, it has history holding it together.

The back piece is part of a vintage pressed back chair and the Victorian bookshelf bracket holds the Edison lights in their vintage sockets. It hangs from a leather thong. (no, not that kind... )
One of a kind, just like nearly everything you will see here, that's for sure.

Interested? let Mr. BMH know right away, before this one is gone!

Banjo or Ukulele

Any guesses?

This is a Banjo-uke, sometimes called a Banjo Ukulele or Banjo ukewhich is a combination of a Banjo and a Ukulele.
There's more information, if you want to click the 'Banjo-uke' link.

They were first introduced by Alvin D. Keech in 1917.  (Just after Bad Monkey House was built.)
This one was well beyond repair and so Mr. BMH made it into a light.  Cool, huh?

It's already sold, but there are more if you are interested in having a one of a kind light of your very own, just drop him an email at Mr. BMH.

Bad Monkey House Toy Drum Light

Do you march to a different Drummer?

Here is a sweet little vintage toy drum that has a new life as a light.
The skin on this one (that's what you call the part you drum ) has a red shade to it, so the light has a nice rose glow. It would be a great night light, it can either hang on the wall or sit on a table.

Because most every light is created from vintage items, they are all one of a kind.

This one is currently for sale at Boys' Fort in downtown Portland, Oregon.

Bad Monkey House

Why Bad Monkey House?
Where did this name come from?

A few years back the BMH Team moved to the city into a big old house in the historic district.
There on the front of the house was a sign.

Of course, I told everyone that I was living in a box at the Monkey House.

The Bad part came about, after looking for a business name that wasn't taken.

There you go.
Now you know the beginning of this story.
Plus there is also Jeff the Monkey ... more on him later.
